Our material and permitted use
Copyright © 2026 CETSOL PTY LTD in material owned by CETSOL. Other rights remain with the respective owners. Access to an account permits the educational use described in the applicable terms or institutional licence. It does not automatically transfer ownership of software, teaching text, visual design, videos or branding.
You may use features that the service expressly provides for your authorised learning or teaching activity. Ask us before redistributing CETSOL-owned course materials, publishing substantial extracts or adapting our branding for another product, unless an applicable licence or legal exception already permits the use.
A copyright notice does not override fair dealing or another applicable statutory exception. A platform restriction also does not cancel the independent permissions granted by a third-party open licence.
Research publications and names
Authors, publishers and other rights holders retain their rights in research papers and associated figures. A citation or link to a paper does not mean that CETSOL owns the paper or may grant permission to reproduce it. Check the licence on the particular publication and obtain permission when required.
CETSOL, Radiotherapy Education, institution names and other product names are used to identify the relevant service or source. Their appearance does not imply endorsement, sponsorship or accreditation. This statement does not assert that every name or logo is a registered trade mark.
User and institution submissions
You or the relevant rights holder retain ownership of original material you supply, subject to any existing institution, employment or project arrangements. The service receives the limited permission needed to store, process, assess and display submissions as described in the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Before publishing a case or shared reference, confirm that you can supply the images, structures, metadata and teaching text for that purpose. Retain authorship, source, licence and change information. Do not upload identifiable patient material or assume that de-identification alone grants a copyright or data-use licence.
Sources in the teaching library
C3RO: Wahid K and Fuller CD (2022), Large-scale crowdsourced radiotherapy segmentations across a variety of cancer sites, Figshare version 4. https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.21074182.v4. CC BY 4.0. Five cases use supplied consensus masks. Preparation changed CT storage type losslessly and added application filenames and metadata; later saved registration transforms are separate teaching defaults.
IMPACT: Moreno A, Humbert-Vidan L, Naser MA, Fuller CD, He R, Wahid K and Castelo A (2025), Image-based Mandibular and Maxillary Parcellation and Annotation using Computer Tomography, Figshare version 1. https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.28615874.v1. CC BY 4.0. The selected manual reference was split into six exact mandibular subregion masks; native CT values and geometry were retained.
LCTSC: Yang J, Sharp G, Veeraraghavan H, Van Elmpt W, Dekker A, Lustberg T and Gooding M (2017), Data from Lung CT Segmentation Challenge, version 3, The Cancer Imaging Archive. https://doi.org/10.7937/K9/TCIA.2017.3R3FVZ08. CC BY 3.0. Native CT was converted to NIfTI and manual contours rasterised to native-grid masks.
4D-Lung: Hugo GD, Weiss E, Sleeman WC, Balik S, Keall PJ, Lu J and Williamson JF (2016), Data from 4D Lung Imaging of NSCLC Patients, version 2, The Cancer Imaging Archive. https://doi.org/10.7937/K9/TCIA.2016.ELN8YGLE. CC BY 3.0. One selected 50% breathing-phase CT is supplied with four source research references: tumour, nodal target, heart and oesophagus. CT was converted to NIfTI with native geometry and HU values preserved; selected RTSTRUCT contours were rasterised to native-grid masks. This does not include a temporal 4D sequence or respiratory-motion assessment. The source RTSTRUCT marks generation as semiautomatic and clinical approval as unapproved; these are teaching references, not clinical approval or complete-organ guarantees. Related collection publication: Hugo et al. (2017), Medical Physics 44(2):762–771, https://doi.org/10.1002/mp.12059.
Pancreas CT and CBCT: Hong J et al. (2021), Breath-hold CT and cone-beam CT images with expert manual organ-at-risk segmentations from radiation treatments of locally advanced pancreatic cancer, The Cancer Imaging Archive. https://doi.org/10.7937/TCIA.ESHQ-4D90. CC BY 4.0. CT conversion and mask rasterisation retain the source’s partial-organ reference scope.
Prostate Anatomical Edge Cases: Thompson RF et al. (2023), Stress-Testing Pelvic Autosegmentation Algorithms Using Anatomical Edge Cases, version 1, The Cancer Imaging Archive. https://doi.org/10.7937/QSTF-ST65. CC BY 4.0. Selected clinical manual references were rasterised to native-grid masks with CT values preserved.
TotalSegmentator: Jakob Wasserthal, University Hospital Basel (2023), version 2.0.1. Head and neck cases derive from Dataset with segmentations of 117 important anatomical structures in 1228 CT images, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10047292. Abdominal cases derive from Small subset of TotalSegmentator Dataset, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10047263. Both CC BY 4.0. Selected scans and masks retain the supplied 1.5 mm grid and values, with sanitised metadata and qualified regional labels. Reference labels and provenance
Expert consensus, individual expert, and research reference describe different forms of provenance. Consensus may have been produced algorithmically and still needs educator review. Preserve those distinctions when citing, exporting or describing a case. A software comparison score does not change the underlying licence or establish clinical validation.
Dataset permissions and attribution
Dataset rights apply separately from access to our software. Some teaching cases are derived from openly licensed research datasets. Preserve the source credit, licence link and relevant notices when you reuse those materials. Do not imply that the dataset authors or participating institutions endorse CETSOL.
Where a Creative Commons Attribution licence applies, reuse may include commercial use subject to that licence’s conditions. Appropriate attribution, a licence link and an indication of relevant changes are required. Other rights, privacy restrictions or dataset-specific conditions can still matter.
Application preparation can include conversion from medical-image formats, selection of cases or structures, extraction of reference masks, display preparation and saved registration transforms. These changes support teaching use and do not make the original data CETSOL-owned. Refer to the particular case’s provenance for its source and processing history.
Licence links: CC BY 4.0 at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ and CC BY 3.0 at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/. For TCIA material, retain its data-use policy at https://www.cancerimagingarchive.net/data-usage-policies-and-restrictions/ and do not identify or contact participants.
Open source software
The service incorporates third-party software under its own licences. Those licences and their notices continue to apply. Our account or paid-access terms do not restrict a permission that an applicable open-source licence independently grants.
The public enquiry form uses ALTCHA widget version 3.2.1 and ALTCHA PHP library version 2.1.0, both under the MIT licence. NiiVue is included under the BSD 2-Clause licence. PHPMailer is included under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1. Preserve the complete notices and satisfy the applicable conditions when distributing these components.
These are identified components rather than an exhaustive inventory of every application dependency. The full notices accompanying each distributed component remain authoritative; this short statement does not replace them.
A component licence does not license unrelated datasets, papers, trademarks or CETSOL content. Consult the notices distributed with the relevant application or ask us about a particular component before redistributing software.
Permission and rights concerns
For permission requests or a suspected rights issue, email enquiries@radiotherapyeducation.org. Identify the work, its owner or source, the location on the service, the use you are asking about or disputing, and how we can contact you. Do not include passwords or patient-identifying information.
We will review the issue and may seek clarification, correct a credit, restrict access to disputed material or take another appropriate action. A concern about one item does not itself establish that the entire platform or collection is unauthorised.
This statement may be updated as collections and software change. The licence supplied with a specific third-party item remains authoritative for that item. Contact CETSOL if a summary and the source licence appear inconsistent.
